Dana White is eager to initiate talks with Conor McGregor about a potential UFC return.
McGregor hasn’t competed since July 2021 when he suffered a foot injury in his fight against Dustin Poirier. Throughout his recovery and during the filming of Road House, McGregor had expressed his intent to return in June, which White had dismissed at the time.
With the movie released, Dana White announces his readiness to engage in discussions regarding McGregor’s UFC return.
“I’m not sure what obligations come with that, but McGregor will be back in the gym full time, training and gearing up for camp. Yet, you can find that once you start earning a lot of money, the hunger diminishes, it becomes challenging to hit the gym, and the effort you once put in diminishes,” White shared on the Pound 4 Pound podcast.
“Earning such large sums of money can take a toll. Imagine the money McGregor made, spending months on a luxury yacht and such. McGregor, being a savvy businessman, has transitioned from humble beginnings to thriving in the business world. McGregor has been an excellent partner for us and needed this break to fulfill his obligations before resuming full training. So, starting this Thursday, McGregor’s journey back commences. We are ready to discuss it,” White added.
Although no fight with Conor McGregor is confirmed yet, all indications suggest Michael Chandler as his potential opponent.
