The Suloev stretch submission, popular for its effectiveness and often seen circulating on social media, was developed by former UFC fighter Amar Suloev. This technique focuses on extending the hamstring and knee by pushing the leg into a split. Below is a simple guide on how to execute this submission:

  1. Get to Back Mount: Establish back control over your opponent to prepare for the submission.
  2. Wait For Your Opponent to Tripod: When your opponent assumes the tripod position, it’s your cue to strike.
  3. Hook Opponent’s Leg: Grip your opponent’s leg firmly with both hands.
  4. Finishing Sequence: Push your hips into your opponent’s leg while pulling their foot towards you to initiate the stretch.

To defend against the Suloev stretch, avoid giving up your back, refrain from using the tripod defense, and keep your feet close together. When performing this submission, ensure you establish back control, grasp your opponent’s leg with both hands, and apply downward pressure with your hips.
