A highly anticipated battle between Adrien Broner and Blair Cobbs is set to take place on June 7th at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The welterweight fight will be the main event of a card organized by Don King, dedicated to the memory of the late Jose Sulaiman, former WBC president and a close friend of the legendary promoter.

“This exciting fight event is a tribute to the life and legacy of the late Jose Sulaiman in the name of global peace,” said King in a statement. “Jose was always at the forefront of putting on great fights, and we aim to honor him with this fantastic lineup.”

Broner, with a record of 35-4-1 and 24 knockouts, will enter the ring after a 52-week break. His last fight under Don King Productions (DKP) was a victory over Bill Hutchinson in Miami last year. The former champion had a successful comeback after a 28-month hiatus, with victories over Giovanni Santiago and a title match with Manny Pacquiao in 2019.

Cobbs, with a record of 16-1-1 and 10 KOs, is coming off a win over Maurice Hooker in Fort Worth last year. The outspoken welterweight recently signed with DKP and has been eager to face Broner, sparking a rivalry between the two fighters.

Aside from the Broner-Cobbs showdown, the undercard will feature a cruiserweight title match and a heavyweight matchup for the interim belt. DKP’s cruiserweight titlist, Noel Michaeljian, will defend his WBC belt against Ryan Rozicki from Canada. The heavyweight bout will see Cassius Chaney take on Michael Hunter II for the interim WBA title.

Other bouts confirmed for the event include former cruiserweight champion Yuniel Dorticos in action, along with matchups featuring rising talents like Ian Green, Ahmed El-Biali, and Treshawn Wiggins.

The fight night in Fort Lauderdale promises an exciting lineup of bouts across multiple weight classes, showcasing both established champions and up-and-coming prospects.
