AEW is gearing up for its upcoming pay-per-view event, Forbidden Door 2024, just around the corner. Following a disappointing viewership turnout on June 19, where “AEW Dynamite” recorded its lowest rating for a Wednesday show, it was crucial for AEW CEO Tony Khan to see a positive response for the June 26 episode.

Fortunately, the numbers showed a significant improvement from the previous week. As per the data initially shared by PWTorch, Dynamite garnered an average of 680,000 viewers and a 0.22 rating in the P18-49 demographic. This marks a substantial 35% increase in total viewership and a 38% surge in the key demographic compared to the previous episode.
Despite this improvement, AEW’s viewership for June 2024 remains below their second-quarter average. The average viewership for June stood at 663,000, contrasting with 712,000 for the entirety of the second quarter of 2024, which concluded with this episode. Moreover, the viewership for June 2024 is down by 23% compared to the same period in 2023, with a 27% decline in the crucial P18-49 demographic.

According to Wrestlenomics, the first quarter of “Dynamite” typically performs the best in terms of viewership and demographics. The segment featuring MJF’s confrontation with Daniel Garcia attracted 846,000 viewers overall and 355,000 in the key demographic. It is suggested that the altered lead-in for the previous episode, the movie “Black Panther,” played a significant role in the decreased viewership, with numbers stabilizing with the usual lead-in, “Big Bang Theory.” Viewership showed a decline in the first hour but picked up in the latter half, reaching a peak of 717,000 overall at 9:15 pm EST and 303,000 in the key demographic at 9:00 pm EST. However, viewership decreased in the final half hour, despite a slight increase during the 7-minute overrun.
