Welterweights Janelson Figueroa and Alberto Palmetta are gearing up for an important fight tonight.

Both fighters possess unique styles, setting the stage for an exciting showdown.

Figueroa and Palmetta will face each other in a high-intensity match at the White Sands (Probox TV) Event Center in Plant City, Florida. The event will be livestreamed on the ProBox TV app and YouTube channel (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT).

During Tuesday’s weigh-in, Figueroa weighed in at 145.8 pounds, while Palmetta weighed 146.4 pounds.

This is a pivotal fight for both Figueroa and Palmetta, with the winner making significant progress in the welterweight division. Both fighters have previously appeared on ShoBox, a long-standing Showtime series that features undefeated and up-and-coming boxers.

Probox TV Senior Producer Chris Glover anticipates an intense and crowd-pleasing battle.

“This match is going to be outstanding,” Glover told The Ring on Tuesday night. “Neither fighter will back down. The winner will become a top contender at 147 pounds.”

Figueroa (17-1-1, 11 KOs), hailing from Detroit, Michigan, last fought on September 9th, 2020, losing via unanimous decision to title favorite Royman Villa. In his most recent bout in July 2021, Figueroa faced Sinard Bunch, resulting in a split decision draw that many believed Bunch deserved to win.

The 25-year-old has notable victories over Mark Reyes Jr., who entered the fight undefeated, and Niklaus Fraz, who previously defeated Figueroa.

Palmetta (18-2, 13 KOs) suffered a unanimous decision loss to Jamal James in his previous fight on February 25th. However, Palmetta has also secured wins against Eric Vega Ortiz, Treshaun Wiggins, and Jesus Solano. He has won his last 11 matches.

The 33-year-old boxer is promoted by Sampson Lukovic.

In the co-main event, former WBO world junior featherweight champion Angelo Leo (21-1, 10 KOs) will face Dominican Republic’s Nicolas Polanco (20-4-1, 1 NC, 11 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

Leo (21-1, 9 KOs), from Las Vegas, Nevada, will be making his debut in the featherweight division. The 29-year-old’s last fight took place in June 2021 when he achieved a unanimous decision victory over Aaron Alameda.

Polanco’s previous fight resulted in a no contest in the second round on June 10th. Before the bout against Conceição, Polanco had suffered three consecutive losses.

In the opening fight of the Probox TV card, featherweight Mikel Gamble (5-0, 3 KOs) from Cincinnati, Ohio, will go up against Brazil’s Carlos dos Santos Rocha (3-1, 2 KOs) in a four-round bout.

Gamble has trained with undefeated lightweight contender Shakur Stevenson and former WBO world junior lightweight champion Jamel Herring.
