Jose Aldo wasn’t just there for a paycheck.
The former UFC featherweight champion is eager for his comeback at UFC 301, where “Junior” will be the bantamweight sensation in the co-main event of this Saturday’s pay-per-view (PPV). He is set to face off against Jonathan Martinez at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (May 4, 2024).
Witness their face-to-face encounter in the video above.
“I believe every fighter dreams of competing for a championship,” Aldo stated. “I needed a break, so I took one. After recovering, I am now back. My aim is to fight for the title, become the champion, prove that I am the best. This will be my last fight on the current contract. When I spoke with Sean [Shelby] and Dana [White] in January, we discussed extending the contract. However, I want to demonstrate to them, to myself, and to everyone what I am capable of and decided to step away.”
Aldo, with a record of 31-8, will turn 38 in September.
