Alessandro Costa is set to take part in the momentous UFC 295 alongside his teammates Diego Lopez and Loopy Godinez.

This Saturday, Costa (13-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will step into the Octagon for the preliminary card of UFC 295, commemorating the promotion’s 30th anniversary, to face off against Steven Erceg (10-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a flyweight bout. This will mark the third Robo Gym fighter to compete in the event, a fact that fills Costa with pride.

“Not only is this a special event, but I’ll also be sharing the stage with my teammates Diego Lopez and Loopy Godinez,” Costa told MMA Junkie in Spanish. “This means a lot to us. It’s very special to be able to fight on a card like this, and to have three guys from the same team competing on the same night, with one of them even making it to the main card.”

Not long ago, Robo Gym wasn’t on the radar of many MMA enthusiasts. However, the landscape has significantly changed, with the Guadalajara-based team now boasting a UFC champion in Alexa Grasso, former UFC title challenger Irene Aldana, and promising talents like Costa, Lopez, and Godinez.

The team’s success has served as motivation for Costa as he heads into UFC 295.

“It’s an additional source of motivation for us,” Costa noted. “The team is progressing well, and our coaches are pleased with the work they’re doing with us. It’s a significant achievement. Being able to compete on cards like this is a major accomplishment.”

Costa has been training alongside Lopez for years. Prior to accepting the fight at UFC 295, Costa consulted with his team, as both men have supported each other throughout their MMA journey.

“Yes, of course, I had to check with the team,” Costa revealed. “When Jason (House, my manager) called me about this fight, the first thing I did was ask Diego about his thoughts. I spoke to him because he’s been managing me all this time. We were also training for his camp, so he said to me, ‘I’ve been training and I’m ready, good. It’s a battle, and you can climb up the rankings.’
