Alexander Volkanovski questioned the validity of Ilia Topuria’s claims about wielding substantial influence within the UFC. The current featherweight champion recently disclosed his plans for his first title defense, hinting that Max Holloway may have been coerced into agreeing to a fight date. Tensions between Topuria and Holloway intensified when Topuria hinted that delays were attributable to issues on Holloway’s part. In response, Holloway expressed his readiness to face Topuria at UFC 306 in Las Vegas. Volkanovski conveyed his perspective on the matter during an interview, clarifying that Max was not under any pressure to compete. While Topuria’s next opponent has yet to be officially named, Volkanovski, following his defeat to Topuria, opined that Topuria’s conduct in interviews and on social media could be detrimental to his reputation. Despite eagerly awaiting an opportunity to recapture his title, Volkanovski expressed a wish for the Topuria vs. Holloway bout to take place promptly so that he could resume fighting.
