In a highly anticipated match, UFC star Francis Ngannou faced off against heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Despite eventually losing the fight to Fury, Ngannou managed to knock Fury down in the third round and went on to defeat several other top heavyweights. Ngannou then entered the ring in Saudi Arabia for his second professional boxing match against former multi-heavyweight titleholder Anthony Joshua. While Ngannou aimed to surprise the world, Joshua sought to reclaim his former glory by overcoming Ngannou in the match.
During the fight, Ngannou appeared strong initially, but Joshua’s powerful right hook knocked him to the ground. Despite getting back up before the count, it was evident that Joshua possessed significant power. Joshua continued to dominate in the second round, dropping Ngannou once again. Although Ngannou stood up, Joshua’s subsequent punches rendered him unable to continue, prompting the referee to halt the match for Ngannou’s well-being.
After the match, there were concerns as Ngannou lay on the mat for a few minutes. Fortunately, when he eventually rose, he seemed to have recovered well. Joshua offered words of encouragement to his vanquished opponent, urging him not to give up on boxing. Looking forward, Joshua expressed his desire to face the winner of the upcoming Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight in the spring. “I just want to keep fighting,” Joshua emphasized.
