UFC 306, nicknamed “Noche UFC,” occurred at The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada on the night of September 16, 2024. The event was highly anticipated, featuring top-notch production elements that showcased Dana White’s admiration for the Mexican audience, creating a visually captivating spectacle for fight enthusiasts using the venue’s expansive screens.

The CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) shared that a substantial sum exceeding $20 million was invested to bring the event to life in Las Vegas. However, an even grander affair is on the horizon. Donn Davis, one of the founders of the Professional Fighters League (PFL), revealed that the forthcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event dubbed “Battle of the Giants” promises to be more compelling in terms of fight matchups and will require a higher production budget compared to UFC 306.

Davis is confident that the upcoming PFL spectacle will serve as the highlight of the year, boasting a lineup of thrilling matches for both men and women, setting it apart as the standout event of 2024. He underscored that while UFC may be a larger entity in the industry, PFL is committed to delivering a more significant event that prioritizes offering top-tier MMA showdowns for fans.

In response to Davis’ assertions, Dana White mentioned that he was not acquainted with him but extended well wishes for the success of the event. Despite some feedback criticizing the lack of action in the main and co-main fights during UFC 306, the event was considered a triumph in terms of both production quality and financial gains.

The upcoming “Battle of the Giants” event by PFL, scheduled in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will showcase a heavyweight clash starring Francis Ngannou against Renan Ferreira, alongside other exciting matchups on the fight card. It is anticipated to exceed the $20 million benchmark in production expenses and is in collaboration with Turki Alalshikh.
