The unbeaten welterweight contender, Shavkat Rakhmonov, recently disclosed that talks of a potential title bout against the current champion, Belal Muhammad, took place for UFC 307 in Salt Lake City. However, Muhammad purportedly rejected the opportunity. Muhammad claimed the welterweight championship following a commanding victory over Leon Edwards at UFC 304.

Following his triumph over Stephen Thompson at UFC 296, where he secured his eighteenth career win, Rakhmonov expressed his eagerness for a title showdown with Muhammad. Despite Muhammad turning down the initial offer to compete at UFC 307, Rakhmonov remains optimistic about a future encounter between them.

Rakhmonov highlighted Muhammad’s past assertions of being an active titleholder who frequently defends his belt but noted that Muhammad has yet to fulfill those commitments. He is patiently waiting for Muhammad to be prepared to meet him inside the Octagon.
