Islam Makhachev is looking at the chance to go up against Conor McGregor if certain conditions are met. Firstly, he needs to defend his lightweight championship against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 scheduled for June 1, 2024. After that, McGregor would have to beat Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas.

Makhachev has mentioned his interest in settling the unfinished business with McGregor and his crew through a street fight, bringing up their previous clash at UFC 229. He even talked about the potential of a Team versus Team showdown, pointing out how such fights are popular in Russia.

A more likely scenario is that either Makhachev or Poirier will defend the lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan later this year. Meanwhile, McGregor claims he plans to compete several times annually, which has sparked concerns about his behavior.
