Many years ago, a young amateur boxer named Jack Flatley faced off against notable opponents such as Zach Parker, Scott Fitzgerald, and Jack Cullen. Impressively, he emerged victorious in three out of four non-pay matches against future world heavyweight title challenger Hughie Fury.
Now, Jack is embarking on a new venture, opening the Flatley Brothers Boxing Gym with his brother. After taking an eight-month break from the sport earlier this year, he has openly expressed his deep love for boxing. “It’s not about the money. There’s not that much money in boxing. You could make more money elsewhere – it’s my passion,” Jack stated.
With a commendable record of 21 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw, Jack is a former British super welterweight titleholder who has held the British or European crown. Earlier this year, he made a significant change in his training regime, parting ways with his long-time coach and joining forces with multiple world title challenger Martin Murray.
Jack believes that this move will spark the next phase of his career, marking a shift in his approach to the sport. He shares his admiration for Murray, emphasizing the potential benefits of training alongside a fellow boxer of similar weight class and a close friend, Jack McGann.
In a recent comeback victory, Murray cornered Flatley to a win, showcasing the promising start of their partnership. Looking ahead, Jack is eager for more opportunities in the ring, with aspirations for title eliminators and championship bouts in the near future.
One such significant opportunity came in 2022, as he was set to compete in a high-profile undercard match in Manchester. However, a clash of heads resulted in an abrupt end to the first fight, leading to a rematch six months later, in which his opponent, Nathan Heaney, emerged victorious once again.
Reflecting on these matches, Jack acknowledges the challenging nature of the bouts and expresses his determination to continue pursuing his ambitions in the sport.
As he looks ahead to the future, Jack is focused on his upcoming fights, aiming to compete at least three or four times this year. He harbors aspirations for a shot at a big title and hopes to pursue the Commonwealth title eliminator route as part of his continued quest for boxing success.
