Following the recent passing of Sika Anoa’i, one-half of the Wild Samoans tag team with his brother Afa Anoa’i, the wrestling community has been honoring his legacy. WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray shared insights on the profound impact Anoa’i had on his career during a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio.”

Ray reminisced, “The first time I tuned into WWF programming, the Wild Samoans, Afa and Sika, were the first wrestlers I saw. They captivated me immediately, and I thought to myself, ‘I want to do that.'”

Bully Ray achieved significant success as part of the tag team The Dudley Boyz with D-Von Dudley. In 1997, they were honored by the Cauliflower Alley Club as Tag Team of the Year, a moment made even more special because it was presented by the Wild Samoans.

Reflecting on this moment, Ray expressed, “Having Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans, present us with the award and speak positively about us as the tag team of the future was incredibly meaningful.”

Afa and Sika maintained a “savage” persona on WWE TV by rarely speaking, which made Ray vividly recall their first speech he heard at the event. “I still get goosebumps thinking about that moment,” Ray shared. “I turned to my grandparents in shock, saying, ‘The Samoans just spoke!'”

A few days back, Ray revealed that the upcoming episode of “Busted Open” would pay tribute to Sika Anoa’i’s life and career.
