Upon hearing about UFC bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington’s injury, former PFL titleholder Kayla Harrison showed interest in an interim title bout against former champion Julianna Pena, who is recovering from a rib injury. However, Pennington had other plans.

Pennington responded by saying, “Interim title?? She needs to calm down,” as reported by ESPN Mixed Martial Arts. “We are already discussing a schedule for our title defense later this year.”

Harrison, aged 33, made a successful UFC debut at UFC 300 in Las Vegas by defeating former champion Holly Holm via second-round submission. Meanwhile, Pennington, aged 35, secured a decision victory over Maira Bueno Silva at UFC 297 in Toronto earlier this year.

Harrison, who entered the official UFC rankings at No. 4, currently ranks below Pena, Silva, and Ketlen Vieira in the bantamweight division.

The resolution of this situation by the matchmaker is eagerly awaited.
