According to ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez, Canelo Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion, is set to have two fights in 2024 against Jermall Charlo and then Terrence Crawford.

If Salvador’s reports are correct, Canelo will have two major fights on Amazon Prime Video PPV this year on May 4th and September 14th.

First Charlo, then Crawford.

“Everything seems to be [Jermall] In 2024 it will be Charlo and Crawford and in that order Canelo,” said Salvador Rodriguez. He talked about Canelo Alvarez’s two fights in May and September of this year. X

Crawford, a highly regarded pound-for-pound star, will need to move up three weight classes to challenge Canelo for the undisputed super middleweight championship.

Terence has never fought at 168 before, so this will be a new experience for him and we’ll see how well he holds up under Canelo’s firepower.

Crawford will no doubt be overjoyed by the news, as he’s facing Canelo at the best time of his career and earning a hefty paycheck after his big win over Errol Spence Jr. last July.

Benavidez left empty-handed.

Fans of undefeated David Benavidez won’t be too happy about this, as they were expecting him to be Canelo’s opponent during the Mexican Independence Day holiday in September.

Benavidez and his father, Jose Sr., have worked hard, including feuds with Canelo, but what may have hurt their chances is the A-level He probably didn’t have a partner. .

Had Benavidez accepted David Morrell Jr.’s challenge or stepped up to face Artur Beterbiev at 175, he likely would have earned a chance against Canelo in September. That’s how he lives his life. You take no risks. There’s nothing left for you.

It’s time for Benavidez to understand that he can’t do anything here and needs to go in another direction, preferably 175 degrees north.

Instead, Benavidez played it safe and fought Caleb Plant and veteran Demetrius Andrade. Perhaps the deciding factor was the reported purchase price of 70,000 tickets for Benavidez’s draw against Andrade on Showtime PPV last November. The numbers were so poor that Benavidez was riding up the creek without a paddle and was in poor condition to be selected by Canelo for September’s squad.
