Former UFC fighter Casey Kenney was arrested on August 16 for various charges related to an alleged incident of domestic violence. Phoenix Police officials have stated that he was taken into custody by Phoenix Police Fugitive Apprehension Detectives at 12 p.m. Charges against Kenney consist of kidnapping, aggravated assault (strangulation), and assault. He has since been released.

According to court documents from Maricopa County, Kenney is facing six charges, including a class 2 felony for kidnapping and a class 4 felony for assault/strangulation, along with four misdemeanor charges. The class 2 felony charge carries a potential prison sentence of four to 12.5 years if found guilty.

In July, Phoenix Police confirmed an incident involving domestic violence accusations against Kenney, initially shared on Instagram by the alleged victim’s mother. The police report indicated finding visible injuries on the adult female victim, and the case is still under investigation.

A probable cause statement, obtained from court records, outlines the events of the alleged altercation that led to Kenney’s arrest. The statement details a series of violent actions committed by Kenney against the victim, Jasmine Mendez, spanning over several hours.

A status conference for Kenney’s case is set for August 22, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 26. Kenney, who has not competed since 2021, has been released from his UFC contract, as confirmed by the organization.
