LAS VEGAS – Chris Gutierrez is looking forward to his upcoming fight at UFC on ESPN 61 this weekend. His original match with Javid Basharat was called off just days before the event, but fortunately, the UFC was able to secure a replacement in the form of undefeated LFA standout Quang Le, providing Gutierrez (20-6-2 MMA, 8-3-1 UFC) with a new adversary.

“I feel thankful to have a new opponent as the fight was almost canceled. It was already postponed a week earlier, so I was excited,” Gutierrez shared during Wednesday’s UFC on ESPN 61 media day. “He stepped in, and at this point, it doesn’t matter who it is.”

Although Gutierrez confesses he doesn’t have much information about Le since the fight announcement was made just on Tuesday, he has been impressed by the skills of the Vietnamese fighter.

“8-0 record, relatively new to the sport, but he’s talented,” Gutierrez recognized. “He’s skillful with his right hand. I don’t have a lot of details about him. He’s made his mark in other promotions and has climbed the ranks, and now he’s here, so let’s see what he brings to the table.”

Despite the change in opponent, Gutierrez is firm that his game plan remains consistent. For him, a fight is a fight.

“I mean, it’s a battle,” Gutierrez clarified. “Punches, kicks, takedowns, it’s all part of the game. I trust my training and my abilities. That’s how I get ready.”
