Tomohiro Ishii’s time in AEW seems to have come to an end, at least temporarily. On the episode of AEW Collision on September 6, Chris Jericho and his cohorts from The Learning Tree, Big Bill, and Bryan Keith, were seen discussing backstage the decision for Ishii to head back to Japan. Jericho noted that it wasn’t the appropriate moment for Ishii to compete in AEW once more. Big Bill underscored that time catches up with everyone eventually, specifically referring to Ishii. Keith chimed in by stating that Ishii had run out of time. The scene then cut to Ishii sprawled on the floor with a chair around his neck, prompting officials to rush to his aid.

Ishii, who is under contract with NJPW, had been collaborating with AEW during the summer, teaming up with The Conglomeration. On September 6, Ishii was part of the NJPW Road to Destruction tour, marking his return to the promotion.
