In a recent development, UFC CEO Dana White mentioned that Conor McGregor, the former UFC two-division champion, is expected to make a comeback to the UFC Octagon in 2024. White hinted at a possible fall return for McGregor.

However, McGregor expressed his desire for an earlier fight date than what White proposed, aiming for June 29th to kick off his 2024 fight plans. McGregor voiced his concerns about the lack of progress in setting up the fight and highlighted the need for a prompt decision to boost enthusiasm.

While McGregor initially hinted at a preference for UFC 303 as the fight card, featuring Michael Chandler, he later confirmed it in a video posted in December. He also spoke about his intention to face Nate Diaz for the third time at UFC 306 on Mexican Independence Day.

Addressing McGregor’s absence from UFC competition, White attributed it to McGregor’s injury during his bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, as well as McGregor’s financial stability.

White mentioned, “The initial setback was the shinbone injury he sustained, which required recovery time. Additionally, his financial status played a role in his absence from fighting,” during a UFC 298 post-fight press conference.
