Conor McGregor’s message to Ian Garry got lost in the aftermath of UFC 310. The former dual-weight UFC champion’s Irish compatriot took the biggest fight of his life on short notice, but Ian Garry still performed admirably against 19-0 contender Shavkat Rakhmanov in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Ultimately, ‘The Future’ fell just short as all three judges scored the fight 48-47 in favor of Rakhmonov.

Conor McGregor attempted to lift Garry’s spirits with a post-fight message after his UFC 310 defeat.

As soon as Garry’s first career loss was confirmed by Bruce Buffer, McGregor took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to send an uplifting message to the man he inspired to pursue mixed martial arts. “Very good fight! Well done Ian, future is right,” he wrote in a since-deleted tweet. Unfortunately, McGregor’s kind message went unnoticed due to what he did next.

The 36-year-old then shared a voice note reacting to welterweight champion Belal Muhammad entering the Octagon for a face-off with Rakhmonov, who had just set himself up for a UFC title shot in 2025. Joe Rogan pointed out that Muhammad had some trouble making it out of the crowd because UFC security was unaware that he was a fighter. McGregor found the 170lb champion’s struggle absolutely hilarious.

“The security doesn’t know he’s the champ, look at the state of this c. The security doesn’t know he’s the champ? I’m not surprised, motherfer, he is an ahole that thing,” McGregor said. “Shut your mouth you little dope, you barely got into the ring, they don’t even know you were the champ you thick. ‘Who the f** is that guy?’ the security said. Ah stop man, two a wipes, yeah.” His voice note, which gained viral attention despite being deleted, was captioned, “2 bums.”

Garry remained optimistic about his fighting future after suffering the first defeat of his 16-bout career. The 27-year-old, who made UFC history by changing his shorts mid-fight, believes he did enough to beat Rakhmonov. “I’m humble in victory and in defeat and always have been, and I do not feel like I lost today. My hand might not have been raised, but I came out and I fought a giant, I came out and I fought the boogeyman, and I showed that he’s f***ing human,” Garry stated during his post-fight press conference.

“I went out there on three weeks’ notice, and I saved this event, I saved this card against the scariest man in the division, and I went out there and I stopped almost everything. I showed that I can hang with the single best in the division and I proved tonight that I can absolutely be a champion. He won by opinion, and that’s okay; I can live with that and I’m very happy with my performance tonight.”
