Tracy Cortez and Miranda Maverick are set to battle it out at UFC Tampa in Tampa, Florida, on December 14, 2024, according to MMA Junkie. Originally slated to compete in July 2024, Cortez had to step away from the fight to replace the injured Maycee Barber against Rose Namajunas. Despite a strong effort, Cortez faced her first UFC loss, interrupting an undefeated streak of 11 fights.
Currently ranked at No. 12, Cortez is aiming to make a comeback against Maverick, who is riding a wave of success with three consecutive wins. Maverick, who secured a victory against Dione Barbosa in July, is vying for a spot in the Top 15 by taking on Cortez. Maverick took to Instagram to issue a caution about Cortez’s eyelashes, making a reference to a previous incident involving Namajunas.
The UFC Tampa event will also showcase a rematch in the women’s flyweight division featuring Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas. In October 2019, Ribas handed Dern her first defeat.
