UFC newcomer Wang Cong impressed everyone with her stunning debut and was rewarded with her first bonus.
With a strong record of 6-0 (1-0 UFC), Cong caught the attention of fans on Road to UFC before her match against Victoria Leonardo at UFC on ESPN 62. In just 62 seconds, Cong landed a knockout blow on Leonardo (9-6, 1-4 UFC), finishing the fight with a knockout. Besides her performance in the octagon, Cong also insisted on being on the main card instead of the opening fight.
Before the match, Cong grabbed headlines on social media with a Joker-themed faceoff at the weigh-ins and claimed victory over former UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko in kickboxing.
Despite her impressive debut, Cong was initially not considered for bonuses. Expressing her disappointment on Instagram, she caught the attention of UFC CEO Dana White, who commended her performance and granted her an extra $50k Performance of the Night bonus.
Cong expressed her gratitude with heart emojis, solidifying her status as a rising star in the UFC. This is just the start for “The Joker.”
