Two prominent MMA experts are expressing doubts about Dana White’s handling of UFC 304. The event took place in Manchester and featured Belal Muhammad’s win over Leon Edwards in the main fight and Tom Aspinall defending his interim heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes. However, the fight card was marred by a series of seven back-to-back decisions, resulting in lackluster matches due to the late start time in Manchester.
Following UFC 304, White played down the negative impact of the late start on the event’s quality, despite reports of fans nodding off during the fights. John McCarthy, known as ‘Big John,’ criticized White’s stance on a recent episode of ‘Weighing In,’ highlighting the difficulties fighters face when competing at odd hours. Former UFC competitor Josh Thomson also took issue with White’s dismissal of the challenges faced by fighters and UFC staff due to the late start time.
Despite calls for change from fighters like Aspinall ahead of UFC 304, White has shown no inclination to adjust the start times for future events in the UK.
