Did Dana White Mislead About Francis Avoiding Jon Jones?

Jon Jones easily defeated Ciryl Gane in just two minutes at UFC 285 in March 2023. This swift victory led former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, to leave the UFC and join the Professional Fighters League (PFL) later that year.

UFC CEO Dana White claimed, “He went through Ciryl Gane like that — effortlessly. In my view, he would do the same to Francis, 100 percent. Francis was not eager to face Jon Jones, the most intimidating and toughest fighter of all time. Despite Jones facing challenges outside the Octagon, his performances against top fighters are remarkable. Jones may not be fully appreciated until he retires. But let me tell you, in a showdown between two fighters, Jon Jones reigns supreme every time.”

If Ngannou was avoiding Jones, then Jones might have been avoiding Dominick Reyes.

Recently, White suggested that Jones was demanding too much money for a fight against Ngannou, a claim that was refuted by “Bones.” It raised doubts among fans about whether either fighter truly desired the match-up.
