Current bantamweight champion Dina Thorslund is gearing up to defend her title once again. The undefeated 118-pound queen will be facing off against Selen Cetin from Turkey in a mandatory WBC title defense bout. The scheduled 10-round fight is set to take place on May 25 at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Thorslund, with a record of 21-0 and 9 knockouts, will be defending The Ring Championship for the second time and her WBO bantamweight title for the sixth time. Her last victorious battle was against Mary Romero, where she claimed an eighth-round knockout win on February 24.
Recently, Romero stepped in at the last minute to replace Cetin due to an eye injury that required stitches. Thorslund’s team quickly arranged the fight against Romero after WBC officials disallowed Cetin from participating.
In her previous fight in Holsterbro, Denmark, Thorslund defeated former WBC titlist Julian Luna Avila. This victory added both the WBO and Ring titles to her collection. The 30-year-old also holds the WBO title since June 2021 and was the WBO 122-pound titleholder back in 2018. She currently holds the eighth spot in The Ring’s top 10 pound-for-pound list.
Cetin, on the other hand, with an 11-0 record and 7 knockouts, is looking forward to fighting for her first title. Her last bout was a 10-round decision win against Romero in Istanbul. The upcoming fight with Thorslund will mark her return to the ring after a 13-month hiatus.
Thorslund has consistently fought for major titles in her recent fights, displaying her dominance in the ring.
