Dmitry Bivol thinks Oleksandr Usyk will beat Tyson Fury in their upcoming rematch. The light heavyweight boxer shared his prediction as he gets ready for his own big fight.
Fury and Usyk will face off on December 21 for three of the four world heavyweight titles. It’s a big deal – we haven’t seen an undisputed heavyweight clash since Lennox Lewis was in the ring.
The two fighters met before in May. Usyk won by a close split decision and even hurt Fury in the ninth round. Fury had some good moments in the middle rounds, but it wasn’t enough.
Bivol shared his thoughts on the rematch in a recent interview: “I like this fight. I think Usyk you know but we never know what we should expect from Tyson Fury. It’s an interesting fight.”
He’s not 100% sure, but he’s leaning towards Usyk. Fury has said he wants a third fight if he wins this one.
Bivol knows a thing or two about big fights. He beat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a surprise win. But in October, he lost a close 12-round fight to Artur Beterbiev in Saudi Arabia. Bivol started well but couldn’t keep it up. Beterbiev’s aggressive style won over the judges in the later rounds.
Now, Bivol’s getting ready for a rematch with Beterbiev in February. It’s going to be the main event on a huge card. Zhilei Zhang will fight Agit Kabayel in a heavyweight bout, and Daniel Dubois will defend his IBF strap against Joseph Parker.
The Fury-Usyk fight is just around the corner. We’ll see if Bivol’s prediction comes true.
