Eddie Alvarez suffered a loss to Mike Perry at BKFC 56, but he remains determined to continue with bare-knuckle boxing.
In a post-event press conference, Alvarez expressed his love for the sport and stated, “I came here and was the best version of myself. The coaches liked what I was doing. I was on point, I was sharp.” Despite thorough preparation, the unpredictability of the sport led to his defeat. Nonetheless, Alvarez acknowledged the entertaining show for the fans and accepted the outcome gracefully.
In the main event, Alvarez engaged in a fierce battle with Perry, exchanging punches for two intense rounds before the fight was halted due to damage to Alvarez’s left eye caused by Perry’s corner.
Perry’s bare-knuckle boxing record now stands at 4 wins and 0 losses, earning him the title of BKFC’s new “King of Violence.” He has emerged as a prominent figure in the sport, securing victories over former UFC champions Alvarez and Luke Rockhold, as well as former Bellator title challenger Michael Page at BKFC.
Despite his own moments in the match, Alvarez couldn’t help but admire Perry’s resilience during the fight.
“I was surprised,” Alvarez said, acknowledging Perry’s toughness. “He reminds me a lot of myself, so tonight I was fighting a little mirror of myself there, and Mike was the better guy.”
Additionally, Alvarez shared his determination to be great and acknowledged the unpredictability of the sport, expressing his love for it.
While Alvarez’s bare-knuckle boxing record now stands at 1-1, he remains open to fighting again after expressing his willingness to rematch Perry in his hometown of Philadelphia.
“Oh, that’s beautiful, let’s do that,” Alvarez said enthusiastically when asked about the possibility of a rematch.
He further expressed his eagerness for a rematch, stating, “Hey, one more time, Mikey, please. Give it to me. Come to North Philadelphia and do me a favor, big dog.”
