Eddie Hearn expects Devin Haney’s star power to increase even more in 2024 with three big fights against big names. First he sees Ryan Garcia He will face WBC 140-pound champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) in March or April.

Hearn will need to convince Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) and promoter Oscar De La Hoya to take on Haney next. That’s because they appear to be focusing on a matchup with WBA 140-pound champion Rolando “Laurie” Romero next. Kingly takes second place in early 2024.

Hearn’s offer of fight money may convince Ryan to choose Haney over Lowry next. Ryan and Rory aren’t the players that will bring in tons of his PPV buys on DAZN. Even if Rory is considered a winner, the risks are still significant for Ryan.

Here are the players Hahn has on Haney’s target list for 2024:

  • ryan garcia โ€“ March/April: Ryan and Haney are both on the same platform, DAZN, making this the easiest fight of the three. This is a match that should generate a lot of money at PPV and The Gate, especially if it takes place at the Chase Center in San Francisco where Devin played to a sold-out house last Saturday against Regis Prograis.
  • Teofimo Lopez โ€“ June/July: It will be a unification match. Teofimo holds the WBO title and is hoping to reap the big payday that has eluded him so far. He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder seeing other fighters like Ryan Garcia get paid $30 million, but he hasn’t been able to enjoy the same kind of money.
  • Gervonta Davis โ€“ November/December: Haney will have to dramatically change his fighting style to seduce and fight Gervonta. He probably doesn’t want to fight with the movers.

If Haney wins those three fights next year, Hearn would like the idea of โ€‹โ€‹Devin fighting. terrence crawford Even if Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) moves up to welterweight, it won’t happen right away. Because that’s not the type of fight you take when you first settle into a class.

Hearn thinks Haney will have more power when he moves up to the 147 weight class, but he doesn’t know how he will be able to handle the strength of the fighters in that weight class.

Gaining is one thing, but can Haney take shots away from fighters at 147? It was possible if he could stay away from powerful fighters like Jaron “Boots” Ennis, Crawford, Keith Thurman, and Royman Villa.

No one can beat Haney at 140 points.

“That kid is so young. He went to Australia, beat Kambosos, beat Lomachenko. I know it was a close fight, but he really educated Regis Prograis,” Eddie Hearn said. Ta. fight hub tvwe’re talking about Devin Haney.

โ€œI could see him getting to 147 and winning a world title there. No one can beat him at 140 years old.. With his feet and speed of movement, Regis could not be set at all. People say, “Regis should have pitched more.” He was trying to go there to throw, and every time he tried to go there, Devin was here and hit him with three shots. โ€

Hopefully Haney stays at 140 to face all the big names and doesn’t move up in the rankings after fighting Ryan or Teofimo. Hardcore boxing fans would like to see Haney stay at light welterweight for a long time and face IBF champion Sabriel Mathias in a unification bout. He is seen as a bigger threat to Haney than Ryan or Teofimo.

“I love how honest Regis was after the game. “I couldn’t believe how good he was.” There was nothing more I could say. That’s the truth.looking at the building [Haney] and you see [Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard] I think Ellerbe, or even if heโ€™s involved, or Tank or the coaches, that fight is still a long way off,โ€ Hearn said of the matchup between Haney and Gervonta Davis.

“Normally when a superfight happens, there’s some conversation between the teams or between the networks. Obviously, there’s two different networks out there. It’s a great fight and a fight that we can all look forward to. I think, but for me, I’m looking at the Ryan Garcia fight. We should make it that way.”

Hearn seems to dismiss the idea of โ€‹โ€‹Haney fighting Gervonta, and he may be right. This is a difficult decision to make because Gervonta has been protected by his management. They obviously have a good relationship with him and don’t want to ruin that. If Tank Davis’ career collapses, Mayweather Promotions and PBC have no one to replace him at 135.

Does Ryan Garcia care about belts or money?

“Both of them [Haney & Ryan] Same with DAZN. I’m sure Ryan wants that fight and I’m sure he wants to challenge for the 140-year-old belt,” Hearn said. “Ryan and Golden Boy might look at Devin and say, ‘Okay, maybe he’s not as good a puncher as Tank.’ I think we can win.โ€

โ€œI think that’s the fight to be had, I really think so, especially when you talk about the speed of making a fight like that. It doesn’t seem like the other guys are coming together on pace for that fight. โ€

One of the reasons Golden Boy wants to hold off on the next Haney vs. Garcia fight is because of Ryan’s performance against Oscar Duarte on December 2nd.

He showed that his boxing fundamentals were not working and needed development. Haney is much improved compared to Ryan and it will be an unwinnable fight if he fights. For Ryan, if a potential rematch with Tank Davis is out of the way, he will likely fight Haney next. Given the current situation, he wouldn’t want to take that risk on a fight he has little chance of winning.

“Not yet. It came from DAZN,” Hearn said when asked if he knew the PPV numbers for last weekend’s Haney vs. Prograis fight. “I think ‘very solid’ is the best way to describe it. I think he’ll probably be a small part of the PPV, and I’m glad it’s going to be that way.

“We don’t know what Lomachenko’s final numbers are.” [vs. Haney], but I’d be happy to be in that range for a fight on DAZN, and probably a smaller fight than the Lomachenko fight. So I’m very happy with this number. โ€

The PPV numbers for Haney vs. Prograis on DAZN were probably out of this world because there wasn’t a great undercard card and Regis wasn’t the fighter fans wanted to see Devin fight. It wasn’t a number. Prograis’ previous fight with Danilito Zorrilla left a bad impression on the hardcore boxing fans who saw the fight, and the casual public didn’t know much about him.

“When you play in early December like he did, sometimes you thought you were playing in March or April and Christmas was your time to recover,” Hearn said of Haney’s next game. When asked if he had any expectations, he answered.

“That kid is a consummate professional. He’s always healthy, strong and energetic. I think he has a chance to fight three fights next year. Three big championship fights.

“One in March or April, then one anytime in June or July, and then one in November or December. It’s going to be a great year for him. He’s just a fighter of the I think I have to say “The Year.”

โ€œIn 2024, I think he’ll be up there again because we know he’s going to be in the big fights. He’s not interested in defense fights or self-defense. I want a fight.โ€

If Haney is not interested in defending his title at 140, he will likely have to bow out of the WBC due to the mandatory appearance of Sander Martin. The World Boxing Council will not allow Haney to bypass Sander unless they can agree to take a step forward.

Haney has the physique to fight at 147.

“His year was like Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Tank Davis,” Hearn said of Haney. “There’s another battle. [with Haney signed with Matchroom Boxing]. Now that he’s a draw, I expect him to finish his career with us. Hopefully we can work together for a long time.

“Look at Devin’s size. He looked like a bigger weight class than Regis, and Devin was coming up to 140. I see him fighting at 147, no problem. . I think he’s going to be stronger at that weight, and I think he’s going to punch even harder.”

Haney clearly has the build of a welterweight, but he could drop down to 140 to make weight for that division. If Crawford leaves the 147-pound division, Haney will have no choice but to fight Keith Thurman and Jaron Ennis.

It will be a tough battle for Haney. Thurman is around Hills’ age, but if he lands something big he can throw punches and make Haney miserable.

“We saw that at 140. He was hitting harder and more powerfully. I think he’s going to be more stubborn. Once you start going up to 147, you’re going to meet bigger guys who can punch just as powerful. I think so,โ€ Hearn said.

โ€œWhat a matchup, Terrence Crawford vs. Devin Haney. It’s a great battle. Hearn spoke about whether Haney would like to jump up to the 147 weight class and face Crawford in his first fight.

It is unlikely that Haney will get up to 147 in time to fight Crawford before retiring. That’s because if he chooses to wait that long before moving up, he won’t be able to face Crawford until two or three years from now.

“I think Devin has big plans and big belief in himself and wants the best fight. He’s never wanted a fight before and Devin said this recently.” Hearn said. Ryan Garcia has talked about not wanting to fight Haney in the past.

“Until he comes [Haney] We were calling for a Ryan Garcia fight well before the Kambosos fight, when he started filling arenas and beating Lomachenko in numbers. If it’s Oscar [De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions] Hearn said he would love to see Haney vs. Ryan Garcia happen.

It seems unrealistic for Ryan Garica to fight Haney. If Haney looked weak against Regis Prograis last Saturday, getting dropped a few times, getting buzzed and barely winning, Ryan will probably end up facing Haney in 2024. But given the one-sided nature of the Haney vs. Prograis match and the way Devin is going, Prograis’ punch count is limited to his 36, and Ryan probably won’t want to fight Prograis.

Haney has changed his style and now fights much like Shakur Stevenson, constantly moving, focusing on defense and trying not to give offense to his opponent. That would be great for him, but popular fighters like Ryan, Tank, and Teofimo wouldn’t want to fight someone like that.
