After Owen Hart’s tragic accident at WWE Over the Edge 1999, there has been ongoing discussion about whether Vince McMahon should have halted the show. Eric Bischoff, whose role at WCW would have been similar to McMahon’s, expressed that he would have made the same choice to continue the event.

Bischoff shared on “83 Weeks” that he supported McMahon’s decision, stating, “As cold as that sounds, I likely would’ve done the same thing.”

When questioned by co-host Conrad Thompson about the ethical challenge of continuing a show where a wrestler had lost their life, Bischoff appeared to reconsider.

“It’s not solely my decision,” Bischoff emphasized. “There are various other individuals involved, including talent, production crew, and the locker room, many of whom had personal connections. It’s not just about my desire to proceed; it’s about how to unify everyone, even those who may disagree with me. That’s the real decision, beyond ethics or morals.”

During that time, Sting performed daring stunts from the rafters in WCW. Bischoff revealed that the decision to continue these stunts rested with Sting himself.

“Many had concerns,” Bischoff recalled. “We had discussions from top to bottom. ‘Sting, what’s your stance?’ We delved into it. If Steve Borden had said, ‘I’m uncomfortable with this,’ that would have been the end. However, after our conversation, Steve confirmed his comfort with it.”
