“Every match holds a special place in my heart, but competing in New York with my loved ones rooting for me makes it even more significant,” stated Chiara “Speedy” Dituri. The unbeaten featherweight boxer is set to take on Jaika Pavilas, another New Yorker, in a six-round match on the upcoming March 7 card. “I am aware that my opponent is a seasoned, aggressive fighter who has transitioned from amateur bouts to a more street-fighting style,” Dituri commented.
Dituri is resolute in preserving her unbeaten status. “Maintaining an undefeated record is crucial to me as it serves as a stepping stone towards competing for a world title and showcasing my capabilities to the world as one of the top female professional boxers,” she expressed. Her aspiration for excellence steered a young Dituri towards boxing. “I began my journey in martial arts at six and transitioned to boxing a decade ago,” Dituri revealed. “Having participated in karate competitions nationally and internationally, I shifted to boxing to push myself to new heights. Becoming a professional boxer and clinching a world title is my ultimate goal.”
While primarily recognized as a professional boxer, Dituri has also left a significant mark beyond the boxing ring. “I am also a high school educator, teaching physical education and health,” she shared. “Being both a boxer and a teacher has served as an inspiration to many students, especially young girls, encouraging them to pursue their dreams.” Undoubtedly, resilience is a prerequisite in boxing, and Dituri has demonstrated remarkable strength over the years. “Following an injury that put my career on hold for a year and a half around two years back, most boxers might have called it quits. But for me, it marked a new beginning,” Dituri recounted. “I was determined to persevere and emerge as a stronger fighter.”
The matchup between Chiara Dituri and Jaika Pavilus is scheduled for next Thursday at Sonny Hall in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Other bouts on the card include Emmett Brennan vs. DeVern Lee and Price Taylor vs. Antonio Torres. Tickets are available for purchase on the ticket web platform, and the event will be live-streamed on Boxinginsider.com. The action kicks off at 7:30pm ET, marking the second Boxing Insider promotional card for 2024.
