Remain composed, “Funkmaster.”
Sitting at No. 5 in the UFC Featherweight division, Movsar Evloev is set to square off at UFC 310 this Saturday (Dec. 7, 2024) against former Bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sterling recently shared his perplexity about being placed on the ‘Prelims’ rather than the ESPN+ pay-per-view for UFC 310 in a video on his YouTube channel.
Regarding the positioning, Sterling remarked, “I didn’t know if I should have been insulted by the placement on the fight card or glass half-full. I guess that’s the best way I try to look at everything in life. I get to fight earlier and get to be done earlier. I was a little confused by it, of course.”
On the flip side, Evloev demonstrated on social media today (Dec. 2, 2024) that he is unperturbed by not being featured on the PPV.
In a tweet, Evloev stated, “Guys my fight will be broadcasted on ESPN, way more people will watch my fight than on the PPV. I don’t even care if I’m the first fight of the night, I get paid the same. All my life, I worked hard to earn [everything]; nothing was ever given to me.”
While it may appear unusual to witness Kron Gracie on the PPV instead of top-ranked Featherweights like Sterling and Evloev, the Russian fighter makes a valid argument that a larger MMA audience will tune in to watch his bout on ESPN rather than through the PPV paywall, especially for an average final PPV like UFC 310.
