Asakura’s Notable Win with Soccer Kicks

Having been a former champion in RIZIN Bantamweight, Kai Asakura is well-known for his knockout skills, boasting 13 KOs out of 21 wins. As he moves to the flyweight division in the UFC, fans are eager to see if his knockout power remains potent after altering his weight class.

One of Asakura’s most intense knockouts occurred in 2019 during a fight that led to a title shot against Ulka Sasaki.

In the co-main event, Asakura landed a powerful right hand that sent Sasaki to the ground within a minute, followed by a barrage of strikes while on the ground.

In this bout, Asakura unleashed vicious knee strikes to Sasaki’s head while he was down, a legal move in RIZIN but not permitted in the UFC due to their updated rules defining a downed fighter as having body parts other than hands or feet on the ground.

What truly shocked the audience were the soccer kicks that Asakura aimed at Sasaki’s head. These kicks, prohibited in the UFC, caused significant damage to Sasaki.

After the fight, Sasaki disclosed that Asakura had caused a double jaw fracture, showcasing the fighter’s immense power.

Asakura’s Goal of a ‘Spectacular Knockout’ at UFC 310

Although many UFC fans might not be familiar with Asakura’s past exploits, the flyweight title contender is determined to secure another ‘spectacular knockout’ and exhibit his skills to the UFC audience.

In an interview, he mentioned, “My advantage over Pantoja is that I can finish the fight with one strike. If he makes a single mistake, the fight could be over.”

He further stated, “For UFC fans witnessing me in action for the first time… Don’t blink! I intend to win with a spectacular knockout.”

Pantoja, known as ‘The Cannibal’, has never suffered a knockout in his MMA career, making him a rare fighter in the UFC with that distinction.
