Francis Ngannou is wise to the ways of Dana White and the fight game. Ahead of his PFL debut, he is well aware that White has the power to spin any tale he pleases when it comes to avoiding a potential bout with Jon Jones. While White has recently pointed the finger at Ngannou for the fight not materializing, Ngannou asserts that it was, in fact, Jones who turned down the opportunity.

Despite his long-standing interest in facing Jones, Ngannou would only have declined the match if it had been made a non-negotiable condition by the UFC. Seeking contractual concessions to pursue ventures like boxing matches against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, Ngannou ultimately parted ways with the UFC. Although he harbors no regrets about his decision, Ngannou was determined to ensure that any fight, including one against Jones, would be on his terms and not solely for financial gain.
