Francis Ngannou is back in the MMA world.

After leaving UFC, Ngannou went to the Professional Fighters League (PFL) and tried professional boxing in 2023. Despite not achieving victory against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, the experience brought him financial gain and admiration.

At 37 years old, Ngannou is making his MMA promotional debut against Renan Ferreira at the PFL Super Fights PPV on Oct. 19, 2024. His future plans remain uncertain, but Ngannou doubts that Fury and Joshua will venture into MMA after him.

Ngannou expressed in a press event, “They don’t want that challenge. Nobody wants it, and I can see why. The shift from MMA to boxing is more challenging for boxers than the other way around.”

He added, “They need to demonstrate skills. Maybe one of them has wrestling skills, but grappling is a different ball game. Time will tell.”

Ngannou’s most recent MMA fight was at UFC 270, where he defended his title against Ciryl Gane with a unanimous decision victory in January 2022. He has secured six consecutive wins since his unsatisfactory bout with Derrick Lewis at UFC 226 in July 2018.
