Up-and-coming welterweight Go Yeltsian is closing in on the title favorite.
360 Boxing Promotions announced Monday that Yeltsian will face one-time opponent Quinton Randall on February 23rd. The 10-round welterweight bout will take place at the Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez, Calif., and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT).
“We are very excited to bring world-class boxing back to Chumash Casino Resort,” said promoter Tom Loeffler. “Chumash is a wonderful property located in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley with a rich boxing history.
“Go Yeltian vs. Quinton Randall is a great matchup for the vacant WBC Continental American welterweight title. Go is undefeated and fresh off a big win at Madison Square Garden last month. The situation is very tough against Quinton Randall, who is looking to take away Go’s undefeated record.
Yeltsyan (17-0, 11 KOs), a 28-year-old native of Yerevan, Armenia, who now lives and trains in Los Angeles, defeated former fringe contender Luis Alberto Veron unanimously in his last fight on November 9th. Defeated by judge. In his previous fight on August 26, Yeltsian knocked out Rogelio Jun Doriguez in the second round.
Yeltsian returned in June after two and a half years. An impressive win could catapult him into very deep welterweight contender status.
“This is my first main event on UFC Fight Pass and I’m very excited because I’m fighting for the title,” said Yeltsian, who was an amateur standout before turning pro in May 2017. This is a long road. Right now I am practicing hard with my coach Freddie Roach and the team. You have to be 100 percent ready for this fight. ”
Randall suffered his first loss as a professional in his final fight on November 16, dropping a decision to Brian Norman Jr. in a matchup of undefeated prospects. The Norman vs. Randall fight was the undercard of the Shakur Stevenson vs. Edwin de los Santos world title fight.
Randall (13-1-1, 3 KOs), a 33-year-old native of Katy, Texas, has notable wins over previously defeated fighters Ivan Pandis and Terry Chatwood.
Loeffler promoted her first show at the Chumash Casino Resort on July 22nd. Casino executives were impressed with the fight card and booked dates for Loeffler to promote the show in 2024.
