Gordon Ryan, the current champion of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Superfight, will make his return at the upcoming ADCC 2024 tournament on Aug. 17-18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is scheduled to compete against Felipe Pena, the winner of the ADCC 2017 Absolute Class, on Saturday and Yuri Simoes, the champion of the ADCC 2022 Absolute Class, on Sunday, barring any health setbacks.
Ryan, who has a history of gastrointestinal issues leading to fight cancellations, is prioritizing his health after the ADCC event. He is eyeing potential matches with Pena and Vinny Magalhaes and aims to settle scores with his Brazilian opponents before contemplating retirement at the age of 29.
A notable absence from this year’s ADCC tournament is Australian grappler Craig Jones, who will be hosting his own grappling invitational event at the Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas. As a result, the much-anticipated showdown between Jones and Ryan will not take place on the competition mats. For further details about the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI), please visit this link.
