Great-O-Khan Retires KOPW Title, Adds Stipulation to NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 Match

Great-O-Khan retired the KOPW Championship at NJPW’s Road to Tokyo Dome event on December 22.

During the event, O-Khan faced Taichi, and their match concluded with a double knockout draw. Following the match, O-Khan announced his decision to retire the title. He revealed that the New Japan Rambo at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 19 would now serve as a number one contender’s match for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

O-Khan later commented on the situation via social media.

NJPW introduced the KOPW title in August 2020. Toru Yano was the inaugural champion, and several wrestlers, including Chase Owens, Minoru Suzuki, Shingo Takagi, Taichi, Taiji Ishimori, and Yuya Uemura, have held the title. Great-O-Khan claimed the championship by defeating Uemura at NJPW Dominion on June 9.
