Ilia Topuria has set his sights on facing BMF titleholder Max Holloway in September. Following Holloway’s impressive win against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300, the stage was set for a showdown between the two fighters. Topuria recently shared in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA that Holloway will be his first opponent, with a planned date in September, potentially at UFC 306 in Las Vegas.
Topuria expressed his eagerness to compete at the earliest opportunity, revealing aspirations to fight in Spain next year. Despite not defending his featherweight title post his victory over Alexander Volkanovski, Topuria is already contemplating future matchups, which may include a potential bout against Conor McGregor.
While Topuria is willing to consider a future bout with Islam Makhachev, his current focus is firmly on Holloway and McGregor. He envisions a clash with McGregor as potentially the most significant fight in MMA history. At present, Holloway and McGregor are the primary targets for Topuria, with the prospect of facing Makhachev later if he maintains his dominance in the lightweight division.
