When Tyson Fury made his entrance to square off against Francis Ngannou at the event “Battle of the Baddest” in October, Saul Milton, one half of the well-known English electronic music duo Chase & Status and a huge MMA enthusiast, was overjoyed. Fury chose to walk out to the Chase & Status track Baddadan for his bout with Ngannou, uniting two of Milton’s passions on a grand scale. Milton shared on The MMA Hour how this unique event unfolded and his perspective on witnessing it.
As per Milton, the song featured collaboration with another talented artist named Bou, hailing from Manchester. Bou alerted Milton to the possibility of Fury selecting Baddadan for his entrance, and soon after, Milton caught sight of the track being played during Fury’s public workout session. The partnership materialized when one of Fury’s associates shared the song with the fighter’s team, leading to DJ Majestic, a notable figure in the U.K., reaching out to Milton to discuss using the song for Fury’s walkout.
Chase & Status have garnered considerable success in the music realm, boasting hit albums and accolades. Outside of their musical endeavors, Milton stands out as a devoted MMA aficionado who hasn’t skipped an English UFC event in years. The duo is also known for crafting entrance songs for various MMA fighters, strengthening their ties to the MMA community.
Despite grappling with divided loyalties towards both fighters, Milton ultimately found contentment with the outcome of the Fury-Ngannou showdown. Ngannou showcased an impressive performance, managing to knock down Fury in the third round, although Fury emerged triumphant in the end. Milton expressed his satisfaction with both the athletes’ performances and the music that accompanied their memorable battle, highlighting his admiration for both sides.
