Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Impresses with Homecoming Victory over David Avanesyan

IBF World Welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis successfully defended his title in front of his hometown fans by defeating former WBA Welterweight champion David Avanesyan at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Avanesyan’s corner chose to stop the fight before the sixth round began.

Ennis now holds a record of 32 wins and no losses, with 29 of his victories coming by knockout. The referee ended the scheduled 12-round bout in the fifth round after Ennis dominated most of the fight and landed a powerful left hand that led to the stoppage.

In another match, 2020 Olympian and WBC World Female Featherweight champion Skye Nicholson outclassed Dyana ‘La Maquina’ Vargas over 10 rounds, winning all the rounds convincingly. Nicholson’s superior skills and technique earned her a unanimous decision victory with scores of 100-90.

The co-main event featured Welterweight Jalil Major Hackett claiming the WBA Continental America title by defeating ‘Pistol’ Pete Dobson over 10 rounds. Hackett controlled the fight from the beginning and secured a unanimous decision with scores of 97-93 and 96-94.

Moreover, Khalil Coe became the new WBC USA Light Heavyweight champion by stopping Kwane Ritter in the second round. Super Featherweight Christopher ‘Pitufo’ Diaz-Velez also achieved a second-round stoppage win against Derlyn ‘El Coyote’ Hernandez.

Bantamweight Christian Carto secured a stoppage victory over Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ Buitrago after three rounds, while Bantamweight southpaw Dennis Thompson defeated Fernando Joaquin Valdez over four rounds with all judges scoring it 40-36. Super Lightweight southpaw Ismail Muhammad also emerged victorious over Frank Brown after six rounds with scores of 58-54 and 57-55.
