Jermall Charlo’s WBC middleweight title has been taken away following a car accident in Texas that resulted in legal ramifications for the boxer. He was arrested and charged with DUI, attempting to evade the police, and causing damage to a vehicle exceeding $200. Though Charlo was released on bail, the WBC stripped him of his championship. In light of this, Carlos Adames has been promoted to the position of WBC middleweight champion.

Unfortunately, this is not Charlo’s first encounter with the law as he is also due in court regarding a prior arrest in April on charges of assaulting a family member and driving with a suspended license. The recent incident may also breach the terms of his bail from the April arrest, adding to his legal woes. Charlo’s future in the boxing world is now unsure due to these ongoing legal challenges.

While the WBC has expressed concern for Charlo’s mental well-being, they have made the decision to dethrone him as the champion. There is a possibility that Charlo could be placed in the super middleweight rankings in the days ahead. His court appearance for the April case is set for May 20.
