Jiri Prochaska’s aspiration to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight championship faced a hurdle when the formidable Brazilian striker Alex Pereira defeated him by knockout in the second round in November 2023 (watch the finish here).

Prochaska emphasized the lesson he learned from this defeat, highlighting the significance of maintaining focus during intense exchanges.

“I need to control every aspect of each fight, right down to the smallest detail,” shared Prochaska during a recent interview with Inside Fighting. “Every detail, every little adjustment inside the octagon, everything. Because until that moment… [the knockout]. In that instance, I handled that bout. It was my error, and while it may have been a minor one, such small blunders cannot be overlooked in this sport. That’s why I’m elevating my game from paying attention to the minor things to striving for greatness.”

Presently, Alex Pereira holds the 205-pound championship title and is set to defend it against Jamahal Hill in the headline event of UFC 300. Jiri is eager to face the victor in the near future and will closely monitor the bout. Despite Hill feeling the fight may not be equitable, Prochaska sees validity for both competitors.

“I believe Jamahal Hill carries more tools into this contest,” he remarked. “Jamahal Hill stands a better chance at the fight’s commencement. If the battle endures, Pereira’s odds improve, from what I’ve observed. However, we will witness the better fighter prevailing. Let’s see.”

Additionally, in a bout on the same event card, Prochaska will square off against Aleksandar Rakic. Eager for a resounding triumph, he aims to secure a position as the top contender once more.

“I truly believe that. I will give my all for that goal,” he affirmed. “I have faith in my ability to become a champion, and I will achieve it.”
