Joe Ray is not just in the fight game for the money. Outside of his bouts in the BKFC ring, he thrives as a realtor and real estate investor, with additional skills as a well driller.

“I dabble in a little bit of everything,” Ray said with a laugh as he prepared for his match at BKFC 69 in Atlanta, streaming live on The BKFC App.

While Ray takes his fights seriously as a professional, his involvement with BKFC stems from his passion for combat sports. “If BKFC had been around 10 or 12 years ago, I probably wouldn’t have pursued MMA,” he reflects. “Bare-knuckle boxing is where I started; we used to fight in backyards and even box in school locker rooms. I’ve always been a threat with my hands. This feels like home to me.”

Ray approached fighting with a confident mindset. “It’s straightforward for me. If you put in the effort, fighting becomes easier.”

As he gears up to face Dexter Carthon in the highly anticipated Georgia debut for BKFC, Ray aims to enhance his record to 2-0, competing against the local favorite.

Ray welcomes the challenge of stepping into what he views as “hostile territory.”

“My entire career has been spent fighting in the opponents’ realms,” he stated, hailing from Martinsville, VA. “I’m accustomed to receiving boos, but by the end of the match, it often turns to applause. I’m actually excited about it—I thrive on that type of energy because I’m prepared and have worked hard to reach this point.”
