John Leonard, an emerging bantamweight boxer from New Jersey, shared that his father, a former professional middleweight, inspired him to pursue boxing. He inherited the nickname “Body Shot” from his father, who was known for his body punching skills. Leonard trains to emulate his father’s style, focusing on body shots and maintaining distance with a strong guard and jab in the ring.

Leonard’s upcoming fight against Frank Gomez on May 11th at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City is highly anticipated in the boxing world. Despite not knowing much about his opponent, Leonard has been diligent in his preparations, aiming for a strong comeback following his last victory in August.

He follows a rigorous training routine that includes boxing sessions every night and swimming as part of his cross-training regimen. Leonard’s dedication to the sport is evident from his disciplined approach to fitness and skill improvement.

While relatively new to professional boxing, Leonard’s extensive amateur background and achievements, including winning multiple awards and competing internationally, demonstrate his talent and ambition. He aspires to climb the ranks and ultimately win a world championship in the future.
