Joilton Lutterbach has acknowledged using performance-enhancing drugs before getting a last-minute chance to compete in the UFC, now dealing with the consequences of his actions. The Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) revealed that Lutterbach has agreed to a 24-month suspension for violating the UFC’s anti-doping regulations. This violation occurred after a positive drug test on June 8, just before his scheduled bout against Shara Magomedov in UFC Saudi Arabia.

The test results exposed the presence of drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, in Lutterbach’s system. The 31-year-old fighter accepted to using this banned substance extensively before joining the UFC, which led to a harsher punishment due to his failure to disclose his prior usage.

Following the failed test and Lutterbach’s confession, the UFC decided to terminate his contract. Lutterbach publicly admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs three months before, claiming he was unaware of his UFC signing at that time.

Lutterbach will be eligible to compete again starting June 23, 2026.
