Jon Jones has outlined his vision for the next five years, hinting at the direction he believes his career will take. This comes after he teased retirement before securing a knockout victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.
In the aftermath of his fight, discussions quickly shifted toward a potential unification bout with interim titleholder Tom Aspinall. UFC President Dana White is reportedly doing everything in his power to facilitate what he considers could be the biggest fight in the promotion’s history, and it appears that Jones has been persuaded to extend his tenure in the Octagon.
Recently, Jon Jones participated in an unusual interview while driving a $5 million Bugatti, sharing his aspirations for the future. During this ride-along with Alex Gonzalez, the 37-year-old fighter hinted that his next fight might be his last, but also expressed the possibility of competing up to two more times as he aims to maximize his earnings before transitioning to a Hollywood career.
“I want to win one more fight, maybe two, within the next five years, and try to make as much money as possible in the UFC,” Jones stated. He added, “I want to launch off my acting career. I’ve always wanted to be an actor. I think I do pretty good on camera and I’ve done little commercials and things like that. Every time I’m on set, everybody’s like, ‘Bro, it’s hard to believe that you’re a fighter. You know, you conduct yourself just like all of our professional actors.’”
Jones has already made his acting debut with a cameo in the Netflix MMA drama “La Cage,” appearing alongside former rival Ciryl Gane and fight legend Georges St-Pierre. He is currently working on military-style scenes for an upcoming project, sharing his enthusiasm through footage and images from the set, where he expressed a commitment to his new path.
“Stepping into acting feels like a whole new game, and I’m ready to put in the work, just like I always have. I’m honored, I’m motivated, and I’m excited for what’s ahead,” Jones wrote, emphasizing that this is just the beginning of his journey. “The grind doesn’t stop—let’s keep building something special. The future’s looking real bright.”
Jon Jones has openly shared his reluctance to face Tom Aspinall, expressing a preference for a matchup with light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. However, UFC executives are not considering this potential clash for the immediate future. Dana White recently confirmed that Jones will indeed fight Aspinall at some point next year.
“100 percent,” White affirmed when questioned during a press conference about the heavyweight unification bout potentially being the biggest fight for 2025. He called it “probably the biggest fight in heavyweight history and a massive fight in the history of the company.”
While acknowledging that Jones has expressed hesitation regarding the fight against Aspinall, White offered encouraging news about the negotiations. “It’s weird. Jon is a very unique individual to deal with. From day one, I’ve been confident that Jon Jones would do that fight. Even before [UFC 309], I said, ‘If he won, there’s no way Jon doesn’t do the fight.’”
White further elaborated on Jones’s willingness to compete, stating, “Jon Jones isn’t afraid to fight anybody, and that’s a fact. Other than one peculiar incident involving his team, Jon behind the scenes is not a guy who turns down fights.” He concluded with confidence, saying, “I’ll say 100 percent [the fight will happen].”
