ONE Championship enthusiasts from all corners of the globe will have to remain patient to witness the final outcome of the intense rivalry between Jared “The Monkey God” Brooks and Joshua “The Passion” Pacio.

In a highly anticipated showdown at ONE 166 in Qatar, the two fighters faced off in a rematch with Brooks defending his ONE Strawweight MMA World Title. The bout, held at Lusail Sports Arena on Friday, March 1st, concluded in a surprising manner.

Brooks came out aggressively in the opening round but struggled to connect with Pacio as he attacked from a distance.

Pacio, a former division champion and the top-ranked contender, managed to find more success during the fight.

“The Passion” landed a low kick, only to be ensnared by his American opponent. “Sarugami” then applied a standing leg triangle choke and attempted a rear naked choke.

Unable to secure a submission, Brooks shifted tactics. He lifted the Filipino fighter and slammed him to the mat, inadvertently striking Pacio’s head and rendering him unable to continue.

According to the global mixed martial arts regulations, strikes to the head, neck, or spine are prohibited. Consequently, Brooks was disqualified 56 seconds into the first round, granting Pacio the ONE Strawweight MMA World Title.

With the series now tied at 1-1, fans can anticipate a potential trilogy matchup in the future.
