Keith Thurman, a former welterweight champion, will not be able to compete against Tim Tzu on March 30th as planned. Thurman sustained a biceps injury during training. Consequently, Tim Tzu will now face Sebastian Fondura instead of Thurman. Although neither Tim Tzu nor Fondura are big draws, their upcoming bout is expected to be a pay-per-view event, similar to what the Thurman vs. Tzu fight would have been. This news comes as a disappointment to both Thurman and Tzu. At 35 years old, Thurman, who has not fought in over two years, is no longer in his prime.

On the other hand, Tim Tzu has been eager for a significant fight but has yet to secure one. He was originally set to fight Jermell Charlo, the junior middleweight champion, until Charlo decided to move up in weight to face Canelo Alvarez. The anticipated showdown between Thurman and Tzu, which was all set for the ring, was cancelled due to Thurman’s injury. Nonetheless, the Fondura fight promises intrigue, especially as Fondura holds a significant height advantage of nearly six inches. Whether this matchup will be worth the pay-per-view price is open to individual interpretation.
