Khalil Rountree has disclosed a breach of the UFC’s anti-doping regulations, leading to a two-month suspension. This suspension prevents him from participating in UFC 303 due to his use of a supplement that contained a banned substance, DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone).
Rountree explained that he unknowingly consumed DHEA through a supplement, resulting in his suspension and withdrawal from his scheduled fight with Jamahal Hill. He presented proof that he had taken the supplement just prior to his drug test, indicating an inadvertent error on the part of the supplement provider.
Following his positive test for DHEA metabolites, Rountree’s suspension was shortened to two months, starting from the date of his drug test. Unfortunately, this means he will not be able to participate in UFC 303. Moreover, he could face additional penalties from the Nevada Athletic Commission regarding the doping violation.
Rountree will need to await a future meeting with the NAC to find out if his suspension will be extended or if he will face fines in connection with the violation.
